What are the most widely-used disinfectants in swimming pools?
Trichlor tablets, which are chlorine in tablet form (usually 200 g), used to keep the water continuously chlorinated. Granulated trichlorate, 90% granular chlorine that’s a little difficult to get rid of and is used to remove stains from the ground, meaning it can only be used in installed pools. And lastly, granular dichloro, which is 55% chlorine, quickly melts and is used to super-chlorinate water.

How do pH modifiers work?
The pH of an aqueous solution indicates the acidity or alkalinity of water. Water becomes acidic when the pH drops below 6.9. To raise it, pH plus must be used as powder or liquid, and to lower it you need pH minus, also in powder or liquid form.

What are flocculants?
They’re products used to remove particles suspended in water. They usually come in liquid, tablets, bags and powder forms. The advantages of flocculants include:
· They produce clearer filtered water.
· They reduce the consumption of other chemical products.
· They help the filtration process.

What are algicides?
They’re products used to eliminate algae from water.

What are coagulants?
They’re products used to make particles larger so that the filter can retain them.

Can I put flocculant bags in a pool with salt equipment?
Yes. You can put them in salt pools as well as in chlorine pools.

Can I put algicide (antialgae) in a pool with salt equipment?
Yes, if it’s an algicide (antialgae) like ALGIKLEAN, specific for salt pools that don’t have copper sulphate.

Theres been a storm and the pool water has become cloudy. What do I do?
It may be that the filter has become soiled with leaves and branches. Clean the filter. The pH often becomes very imbalanced, as does the alkalinity. Adjust the pH with PH MINUS or PH PLUS and adjust the alkalinity using SUBE TA or BAJA TA. Add GOLDENFLOCK to combine suspended particles.

How can I remove a surface layer of pollen from the water?
If you add GOLDENFLOCK to the water to coagulate the pollen, the filter will do the rest.

CONSTRUCTION AND MAINTENANCE

Do tiles make the pool watertight?
No. As with other linings they finish and embellish the pool. The gunning itself seals the pool.

Is a layer of waterproofing on top of the gunned concrete necessary?
No. If the gunned concrete has been properly applied no second waterproofing is needed.

The pool is losing water and the level has dropped. What's happening?
A study needs to be done to find out where it’s losing water, where the leak is. The process takes a few weeks, as the pool must be observed by our professionals. If it’s losing water very quickly it may be due to a broken pipe. If the water is escaping more slowly, it could be a crack in the structure. First we need to find out where the leak is.

How is a sample of pool water taken for an analysis?
The sample must be taken in a clean container which must be free of any previous liquid content that may affect the results. It’s recommended to use water-containing bottles. Take the sample on one side of the pool, in its central part. Immerse the container as much as you can, fill it to the top and close it immediately.

How do I raise the alkalinity?
Add Sube TA. 17g / m3 of water for every 10ppm you want to raise. The ideal value is between 80 and 120.

How do I lower the alkalinity?
Add Baja TA. 25g/m3 of water per 10 ppm you want to lower whenever the alkalinity is greater than 150ppm.

How do I raise the pH?
Add Ph plus. 1.5kg/100m3 to increase 0.2 units. The ideal pH is between 7.2 and 7.6.

How do I lower the pH?
Add 100g/10m3 of water to increase 0.1 unit. The ideal pH is between 7.2 and 7.6.

How do I raise the chlorine?
Add Granular Dichloro, 15g/10m3 of water. The ideal chlorine value is between 1 and 3.
